Alive and Active
Today’s Scripture
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Today’s Thought
God’s Word isn’t a dusty history book. It’s alive because the God who spoke it is alive. It reaches places nothing else can reach, down to the motives and attitudes we hide even from ourselves. That can feel uncomfortable, but it’s really a sign of God’s love. A good surgeon cuts to heal, not to harm. When Scripture puts its finger on something in your heart, God isn’t trying to shame you. He’s trying to set you free.
Put It Into Practice
As you read Scripture today, pray, “God, is there anything in my heart You want to deal with?” Then listen, and write down what comes to mind.
