The Father Who Runs
Today’s Scripture
So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
Today’s Thought
In Jesus’ story, the son had wasted everything and came home with a rehearsed apology. But the father had been watching the road. Before the son could get a word out, the father ran to him. Jesus told this story to show us what God is like. He doesn’t stand at a distance with His arms crossed. He runs toward anyone who turns toward Him. No matter how far you’ve wandered, one step home is met by a Father running to you.
Put It Into Practice
If there’s an area where you’ve drifted from God, take one step back toward Him today. Tell Him honestly where you are and let Him meet you there.
